Madrid

Bilateral economic relations with Spain have been developing steadily, but there is room for improvement both in increasing the export of Estonian companies to Spain and in increasing investments from Spain in Estonia. Estonian entrepreneurs are often interested in various large international business fairs held in Spain, for example, they actively participate in the Smart City Expo and the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Commercial trade

In 2025, the value of goods exported to Spain was 235 million euros, making Spain Estonia’s 18th largest export partner. Compared with 2024, exports from Estonia to Spain increased by 21.4%. The value of goods imported from Spain was 397 million euros, making Spain Estonia’s 14th largest import partner. Compared with the previous year, imports from Spain increased by 19.2%.

Estonia’s main exports to Spain include grain (especially wheat), peat, electrical equipment, wood and wood products. Estonia’s main imports from Spain include motor vehicles, electrical equipment, machinery and mechanical appliances, and iron and steel.

Investments

At the end of 2025 Spanish direct investments in Estonia were 243,7 million euros, and the volume of Estonian direct investments in Spain was 471,9 million euros.

Spain continues to be one of the strongest partners for Estonia’s e-Residency programme. Spanish citizens remain among the most active founders of Estonian companies through e-Residency. In 2025, Spanish citizens were again among the top nationalities establishing new Estonian companies through the programme. As of May 2026, nearly 8,000 Spanish citizens are e-residents, who have created more than 3,500 companies.

Tourism

Spain is a very popular destination among Estonian tourists, and Spanish tourists are increasingly finding their way to Estonia.

In 2025, according to the Bank of Estonia, the total number of visits by Estonian residents to Spain was 119,691, and the total number of visits by Spanish residents to Estonia was 82,036.
